First Aberdeen network changes open up wider access across the city

First Aberdeen has announced changes to the bus network across the city that will provide new links throughout Aberdeen and faster journey times on some routes.

The changes, which will start from Sunday 3rd July, will impact upon the 11/11A, 13, 15, 17/17A, 18, 19, 20, 23 and 172 with full details on amendments to each route below.

11/11A
Passengers from Craigiebuckler will now see a quicker journey to the city centre through revised service 11, with Craigiebuckler journeys numbered 11A.

There will be an overall increase in frequency from every 20 minutes to every 15 minutes between Northfield and Queens Road via the city centre, with alternate journeys extending to either Woodend or Craigiebuckler.

13
Changes to this route will mean a new link is created for students from Hillhead of Seaton to the retail and leisure at the beach front on weekday evenings and all weekend. It will also create a new direct link from Scatterburn and Mastrick to the beach retail and leisure park.

15
Offering new faster links from Airyhall to the city centre as well as a brand-new link serving the Countesswells estate. Service 15 will also extend beyond the city centre and terminate at Balnagask (replacing service 20) allowing for a consistent frequency all year round. It will also service the new Aldi superstore. Links to beach retail park will be maintained through revised service 13.

17/17A/18/172
The route within the city centre will revert to using the section of Union Street between Market Street and Bridge Street.

19
A limited number of journeys on the 19 service will now offer a new direct link from Peterculter Retirement village to Aberdeen city centre.

20
Service 20 will be revised to operate between Hillhead of Seaton and the city centre only. The route will operate every 30 minutes during University of Aberdeen term times and hourly outside of term time. The section of route between the city centre and Balnagask will be replaced by revised service 15.

23
The route within the city centre will revert to serving the full length of Union Street.

Graeme Macfarlan, Commercial Director for First Bus Scotland, said: “We are delighted to be announcing these new network changes which we believe will improve our service for people across Aberdeen while also providing access to places people want to go.

“This is shown in the alterations made to the 13 service which will create a new link for students to the retail, shopping and leisure at the beachfront throughout the week, while the 15 service will now offer faster links to the city centre from Countesswells estate providing access to the new Aldi superstore.”
