Prices frozen for majority of First Aberdeen tickets

  • Tickets including popular Day Ticket Bundle and Month passes will not increase in price
  • All ticket prices are frozen when using Tap On, Tap Off
  • The bus operators pricing updates will come into effect from 31st March

First Aberdeen is freezing the price on the majority of its tickets following the bus operators’ annual fares review.

For customers purchasing tickets through First Aberdeen’s innovative Tap On, Tap Off payment method, ticket prices will remain at current rates, including Single, Day and Week tickets.

On-board, or on-app purchased Two-Trip, Day Ticket Bundle, Week and Month tickets will also remain the same price for customers across Aberdeen while Single, Day and Month+ tickets bought on bus or via the First Bus app will see a below cost price inflation increase by 3% from 31st March.

These changes mean customers who typically purchase Single and Day tickets can switch to Tap On, Tap Off as their payment method, and will therefore not see an increase in their ticket price.

The announcement comes as the transport operator continues to invest in its customers and its services; adding more buses onto the road to meet demand, improving punctuality, and increasing the number of zero emission buses to 49.

Duncan Cameron, Managing Director of First Bus Scotland, said: “The updates to our ticketing structure are essential to allow us to continue to deliver and grow our services across the city. Despite facing significant cost increases across our operations, we have worked hard to freeze a significant number of ticket products to ensure we continue to attract more customers to using our services.

“We know there will be significant increases in fares across alternative modes of public transport so being able to freeze so many of our popular ticketing options, at their current prices, shows our commitment to our customers to provide them with one of the cheapest, most convenient and sustainable ways of traveling around Aberdeen.”
