‘Fare’s Fair’ - First Bus Offering Treat to Glasgow Commuters in light of Peak Train Fares Return

First Bus to host coffee giveaway outside Glasgow Central Station to highlight ‘Fare’s Fair’ travel campaign

On Tuesday, 1st October, First Bus is looking to offer commuters who have been subject to newly reintroduced peak train fares a tasty treat.

From 8-10am, First Bus invites Glasgow commuters to enjoy a complimentary coffee outside Glasgow Central Station as part of its ‘Fare’s Fair’ campaign. Following the reintroduction of ScotRail’s peak fares to train tickets last week, First Bus wants to treat commuters to a free coffee to soften the impact of the change to their journey cost.

The ‘Fare’s Fair’ campaign looks to highlight how traveling by bus is a cost-effective and efficient alternative, especially in light of the recent decision to end the off-peak fares trial in Scotland. With First Bus, passengers can enjoy reliable fares that remain consistent throughout the day, ensuring that travel costs are both predictable and affordable.

Located outside the main entrance of Glasgow Central Station on Gordon Street, passersby can pick up a freshly brewed cappuccino from popular local coffee shop, Sexy Coffee. While enjoying their drink, commuters can consider if bus is the right option for their next journey, with many across Scotland certainly seeming to think so, with 301million bus journeys undertaken in 2022-23, compared to 63.7million for rail*.

Graeme MacFarlan, Commercial Director of First Bus Scotland, said: “While we’re happy that Glasgow commuters are choosing to travel by public transport, bus offers a fantastic option for commuters. With the reintroduction of peak rail pricing, we wanted to brighten commuters’ days by providing a warm coffee to help them on their journey, whether that be by bus, train or foot.

“Our goal is to show commuters and travellers that taking the bus is an affordable, reliable and economical choice, and with First Bus, they can always count on a fair fare.”

Join First Bus outside Glasgow Central Station for a free coffee and discover why the bus is a smart and economical way to travel.
