First Bus to improve reliability of services in Dumbarton, Balloch and Helensburgh

First Bus has unveiled a series of changes to its Dumbarton routes aimed at improving service punctuality and enhancing local connections. As part of these changes, additional routes will be introduced to better serve Balloch and Helensburgh, ensuring more reliable travel options for passengers.

From Sunday 2nd March, First Bus Service 1/A will now operate an improved frequency between Dumbarton town centre and Glasgow. New 204/205 local routes will be introduced to serve Balloch, replacing the Service 1/A sections of the current route to ensure more reliable connections and more streamlined coverage for our customers. Finally, Service 206 will extend from Westcliff to serve Helensburgh, replacing the current Service 1B.

Passengers who currently travel from Glasgow to Balloch or Helensburgh using current Service 1, 1A or 1B will need to change bus in Dumbarton town centre to a 204/205 or 206 to reach their destination.

Service 1E will continue to operate between Balloch and Glasgow and will now travel directly between Clydebank and Yoker via Glasgow Road.

Service M11 will be renamed as Service 11 and will cover the Mountblow to Gartnavel Hospital route via Clydebank, replacing Service 1D.

Chris Coleman, Head of Network for First Bus in Glasgow, said: “We have been working hard to create a bus network that suits the needs of our customers, and we believe these changes to Service 1 alongside the introduction of the additional services will create a reliable and more convenient service for our customers in Dumbarton, Balloch and Helensburgh.

“The introduction of the 204/205 to serve Balloch and the extension of the 206 to Helensburgh will create better local connections in the area while also improving the experience for our customers.”

First Bus will be working hard to update customer information, including bus stops, as quickly as possible with the new timetable information, but it encourages everyone to use the First Bus app for the most up-to-date timetable and live bus tracking information.
